Event Description
Dan Berggren is a tradition-based musician who writes with honesty, humor, and a strong sense of place. His roots are firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised but his music has branched out across many borders from the U.S. to Europe and Africa. With a strong, magnetic baritone voice and guitar accompaniment, Dan invites audiences to join in, find their own harmonies, and explore the many dimensions of the home, hard-working folks, taking care of our planet and each other. His stories weave them all together with humor and heart.
The award-winning musician and educator held various jobs before devoting his life to music full-time: working in the woods with a forest ranger and surveyor; radio producer, writer, and announcer for the American Forces Network Europe; professor of audio and radio studies for 27 years at SUNY Fredonia, where he was also a sound designer for theater and dance, and executive producer of numerous public radio programs; and owner of Sleeping Giant Records which has produced over twenty albums of original and traditional folk music. Dan Berggren In Concert, the latest album was released in 2020 and is a live recording from two sold-out shows at the historic Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY.
